Best used for
JD Brown is a medium-toned granite with a tight, even speckle in grey, brown and black. It is quieter than Chicko Brown and warmer than the greys, which makes it an easy stone to put next to almost any tile or paint colour. It suits flooring and staircases in apartment blocks, because it hides traffic marks and the small pattern looks much the same across a large order. It is a good kitchen stone too, especially with wooden or cream cabinets.
Things to know
JD Brown is a dense, hard granite that polishes to a high gloss and resists staining well. Its small-scale pattern means joints between slabs are easy to lose, so it suits long counters and large floors. As with all speckled stone, ask for the slab count you need from one lot so the tone matches. It is suitable for outdoor use including steps and cladding, where a flamed or leather finish will give better grip than polished.
