Best used for
Pearl Brown is a dark granite with reddish-brown patches scattered across a black ground, and the patches tend to lean in one direction, which gives the face a slight sense of movement. It is a deep, warm stone for kitchen counters, staircases and floors where a plain black would feel too severe. Outside it is used on wall cladding, garden benches and memorials, where its dark colour keeps looking clean.
Things to know
Because the patches have a direction, decide which way they should run before the slab is cut and tell the fitter, especially on stair treads and long counters. Dark granite shows fewer stains than a light one but shows dust and water spots more; a dry cloth after cleaning keeps the polish clear. The amount of red against black changes from slab to slab, so choose the actual slabs you will use.
